IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: Beyond is post-canon. That also means he is dead; he has a canon death date.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Beyond is quite tall, about 5'10", and while he naturally tends to slouch, it's not as pronounced as when he was pretending to be Rue Ryuzaki. He's fairly thin, not especially well-muscled - the kind of guy who looks like he spent most of his life indoors, holed up with books and computers. (Because he pretty much did.) He wears casual, nondescript clothing - baggy blue jeans and plain long-sleeved T-shirts, most often charcoal grey in color. His hair is disheveled in style, complete bedhead, but he won't be wearing makeup on the Barge. First impression is most likely "casual and somewhat sloppy."
Beyond's eyes are a normal dark brown shade, ringed by dark circles because he doesn't sleep much; the red coloring of his eyes in icons are a purely stylistic thing used throughout Death Note to denote when characters have shinigami eyesight. According to How To Read: "No matter what medical or scientific method is employed, it is impossible for humans to distinguish whether or not a human has shinigami eyes. Even shinigami cannot distinguish this fact, except for the very shinigami that traded his or her eye power with that human."
He tends to speak with a sharp sort of flatness to his words, when he's not pretending to approachable and guileless. His tone is somewhat softened now.
His scent, for those who would notice, would be VERY faintly of gasoline and burnt flesh. He set himself on fire a couple years before he died and suffered terrible burns from the attempt. He also smokes cigarettes, so he has that lingering smoke scent that smokers tend to have.
•DEMEANOR:Beyond is mostly cagey, having been trained since childhood to be a detective. He keeps many secrets close to himself, and is a habitual liar when it suits his purpose. His norm is to not be open with anyone, rather keep them at arm's length with evasiveness. Beyond is much less cagey and evasive and much more open and honest with people since spending a year off the Barge attempting to be normal people and coming back as a warden. He typically presents with a calm, serious demeanor, shows his emotions a little easier now but still in a subdued kind of way.
•ABILITIES: Beyond is talented in mimicry, acting, deception, lying, speed reading, logical reasoning, problem solving, creative thinking, crossword puzzles, and mathematics; he is a bona fide genius. He also has shinigami eyesight, for which you can find a separate explanation and permissions page here.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: Before he set himself on fire, Beyond was a fairly healthy young dude? Nothing really of note here.
•CABIN INFORMATION: Cabin #4-13; looks like an average boring suburban bedroom, probably a model home - beige everything, bed, wooden dresser on one side, wooden desk and chair on the other.Trashed, as of this tantrum. He's moved in with Mello, in cabin #3-10. Moved back to his own cabin, after his coma, which was fixed by Cassel during his coma.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: None, really, except his failures, and those aren't so much offensive as they are humiliating and aggravating for him.

CONTENT WARNINGS/OPT-OUT: Beyond has a lot of issues, including but not up to: his canon suicide attempt by setting himself on fire; periodic suicidal ideation (less of a thing since coming back as a warden); also periodic self-harm tendencies (also less of a thing since coming back as a warden). If this is in any way problematic for you and you would rather not deal with this in-game, or if you would prefer to opt out of dealing with Beyond completely, I am completely understanding and am here to offer a convenient way to do so!
