[beyond was dead, and now he's not.

it's a perplexing position for anyone to find themselves in, of course, but even more so when there's something fundamental about that person that's gone missing - something that should be there, but isn't. beyond has found he is missing such a thing, and has decided to take advantage of the technology of this new place in order to work out his thoughts regarding this dilemma.]

"In the social jungle of human existence, there is no feeling of being alive without a sense of identity."

[his voice is quiet, raspy, almost unnaturally even in tone. he pauses, then picks up with one of many questions currently on his mind, addressing anyone within earshot.]

I am imprisoned here because I will not accept it, I believe.

You have been imprisoned because you do not accept an existence of cruelty and servitude?

[No.]

For lack of any better explanation, yes.

That seems like an especially nonsensical reason.

The Admiral has human sympathies. A simple observation of who he hires to be his wardens will show that.

What have you been able to observe about the wardens?

Many things, chiefly that they are overwhelmingly human.

All that I have observed, or all that leads me to this conclusion?

All that you have observed about the wardens. I would think there would be other details you may have noticed.

There are, but none so relevant. The wardens believe themselves to have a duty to enforce fairness and mercy, but they are disorganized. Many have never seen their employer, yet are loyal to him anyway. They never doubt his judgement on his prisoners, only discuss how well or poorly we should be coaxed into reformation.

How are they disorganized, specifically?

They often do not know what each other are doing, or, if they know, they do not agree.

That seems like an oversight. Quite a flawed system, in fact.

Unfortunately, it is flawed in a way that only makes living here more tiresome.

That's unfortunate. There's been to call for reform?

Some, recently. As I said, there is more focus on reforming what inmates are allowed.

It would seem that attempting to reform inmates based on a flawed system is bound to produce futile results.

Undoubtedly. The subject has been raised by other inmates, but no change has come.

Inmates, but none of the wardens?

That is an inherently paradoxical claim.

As you say. I have no desire to even attempt to defend their viewpoints, or this prison.

I don't see why you would.
